COS Adult Discussion Group

In-person on Sunday Mornings at 9:30 AM in Shalom House

We will be discussing Walter Wink’s book, The Powers That Be - Theology for a New Millennium, in February and March. In it, Wink articulates his understanding of the “domination system” at work in our world, the power of non-violence shown to us in Jesus, and how to “engage the powers” non-violently without losing our souls.

The Powers That Be - Theology for a New Millennium, by Walter Wink (Doubleday, April 1998) can be found on-line, new or used, with Kindle and other formats, or order it through a local bookstore.

Contact Rev. John Gill for more information.

We meet each Sunday in Shalom House (the stone house) at 9:30 AM. ALL COS MEMBERS AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED. Bring your own coffee or grab some in the sanctuary before you come over.

Creation Justice Team

The Creation Justice Team is committed to caring for and repairing our planet through activities and educational opportunities. We try to engage in one major project per year along with quarterly events and ongoing educational blurbs throughout the year. This past year we’ve involved the congregation in a sneaker drive to earn money for planting trees, weeding one Saturday at an inner-city-farm created to address food insecurity, and spent a lovely day of forest bathing in the Great Smoky Mountains. All are welcome to share their passions and creativity! We meet virtually on the first Tuesday of each month. All are welcome! Please contact Pam Hindle (pamela.hindle9247@gmail.com) or Ceil Sheahan (ceil1955@gmail.com).
