Children and Youth at COS
Children and youth receive a great deal of individual attention at COS. We try to provide opportunities for our children and youth to grow spiritually and explore their own faith and values through service, worship, reflection and fellowship in a loving and accepting community of faith.
In addition to weekly Sunday School and children’s sermons for younger children, we have a youth program for middle and high school students that includes study, service and social activities.
Children's Programs and Activities
Child Care - Ages newborn - 5th grade
We have childcare starting at 9:30 for ages newborn-5th grade.
All children are welcome to come and play while their parents attend adult offerings.
We have a permanent, paid staff worker in the nursery to offer consistency to the children and she is ably assisted by rotating youth volunteers.
Sunday School - Ages 3 yrs - 5th grade
We have Sunday School classes, concurrently with church at 11:00 for ages 3-5, 1st and 2nd grade, and 3rd-5th grade.
We use the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum which integrates the children's and the adult lessons, along with the sermon, according to the Revised Common Lectionary readings for each Sunday.

We enjoy an annual winter retreat in Blowing Rock, NC, outings throughout the year, fundraisers, service projects, mission trips and MORE!
Our goal is to learn and journey together in Christian fellowship, welcoming, serving, and having fun in the name of Christ.

Amended Spring Schedule & MORE
- Amended SS dates will be: 5/13, and 5/20
- There's a new service sheet up with a space for recycling on it. The recycle person will bag the stuff from the 2 recycle cans in the kitchen, the 3 SS rooms, and the large round basket where we dump our used bulletins and such. Then you can leave the bag(s) by the robing closet in the sanctuary and I'll haul off. This will be a great help and a service we agreed to perform a couple of years ago that we need to keep up.
- Remember that only one youth needs to be in a SS room (unless the TEACHER asks for mor help) and that you're to be actively engaged in assisting the teacher and children in any way you can. You are a valuable resource and they appreciate you so much.
